More photos from the twin otter flights. The first 2 are views of Miami, the last is some clouds, and the 3rd photo is an awesome forest fire in the Everglades.

These are photos taken from a twin otter airplane, during research flights which took measurements of clouds and aerosols within the atmospheric boundary layer in January 2008. Here we were flying around and just off coast of Miami.

Thunderstorm from the same flight as previous set of photos, about 40 minutes later.

The first photo is the bottom portion of the 22 degree halo, with lower tangent arc. The other 3 photos are of the lunar equivalent of a subsun, which should be called a submoon. I am unable to find any references to or other photos of a submoon, however. http://www.atoptics.co.uk/halo/subsun.htm

A 22 degree halo around the moon, taken from an airplane at about midnight on July 29th/30th 2007. The brightening at the bottom of the halo in the 3rd photo is probably a lower tangent arc.

More photos of clouds from the airplane. Also, the Empire State Building as seen from the roof of a 39 story apartment building.

Some photos of cumulus in varying stages of growth, on the morning of July 28th 2007, near the beginning of a flight between Ft. Lauderdale and New York.
